Logo

Our Mark

The ByteHiveBB mark is a stylised bee built from honeycomb hexagons — a body of six cells, two hex-tipped antennas, and two angular wings. It captures both sides of the brand: the hive (community, structure, productivity) and the bee (industrious, fast, focused).

Sizing rules

Minimum web size

75px height — below this the antennas and hex detail lose legibility.

Minimum print size

100px height — print resolution is lower than screen, so the floor is higher.

Clear space

Reserve at least 24px of empty space on all sides — no graphics or text inside the exclusion zone.

Mark alone vs lockup

Use the bee mark alone for favicons, avatars, and small UI. Use the horizontal lockup when there's room for the wordmark.

Web implementation

The site renders the palette in OKLCH for perceptual uniformity. The CSS custom properties below approximate the canonical hex values; the print spec above is authoritative for any non-screen output.

Typography

Type

Poppins and Montserrat are the canonical brand typefaces for print, product, and out-of-web collateral (letterhead, business cards, ads, email signatures, merchandise). The website renders in Inter — a separate deliberate choice for screen legibility.

Body — Montserrat. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. We build digital products that move businesses forward, from the first sketch to the live deploy.

Web — Inter

The website renders in Inter (system-loaded, variable weight 400–800). Inter was chosen for its screen optimisation, hinting at small sizes, and widely-available system fallback. Poppins/Montserrat are used everywhere a print or product deliverable touches a customer — they are not a runtime web concern.

Iconography

Icons

Brand icons are line-style, set at a 2pt stroke weight. The website uses Lucide as its icon library with that stroke-weight applied for consistency with the canonical brand iconography below.

Voice

Tone & Messaging

Primary tagline

"We build digital products that drive growth"

Also use

  • "Based in Barbados. Built for the world."
  • "From concept to deployment."
  • "End-to-end. Zero hand-offs."

Avoid

  • "Disrupting the digital space"
  • "Leveraging synergies"
  • "World-class" (show, don't tell)

Brand personality

Direct

We say what we mean. No fluff, no buzzwords.

Technical

We speak the language of engineers and founders.

Confident

We back our work. Results speak for themselves.

Collaborative

We treat clients as partners, not tickets.

Caribbean-rooted

Proud of our Barbados base, built for the world.

Tone guidance

Writing for the web

  • Write in second person ("you", "your business")
  • Lead with outcomes, not features
  • Keep sentences under 20 words where possible
  • Use active voice — "We build" not "Software is built"
  • Spell out technical terms the first time

Writing for contracts & proposals

  • Use formal British-Caribbean English conventions
  • Define scope clearly with numbered deliverables
  • Avoid colloquialisms and jargon in legal documents
  • Reference the full company name "ByteHiveBB" on first use
  • Use the horizontal logo lockup for letterheads

Usage

Do's & Don'ts

Do

  • Use the bee mark with its full clear space (24px minimum on all sides)
  • Display the logo at 75px height or larger on screens, 100px for print
  • Use the dark-background lockup on dark surfaces, light lockup on light
  • Use solid #f6aa12 amber for the mark — never gradients or tints
  • Use line icons at 2pt stroke weight for visual consistency
  • Pair Poppins (display) with Montserrat (body) for print and product collateral

Don't

  • Don't stretch or squeeze the logo — preserve original proportions
  • Don't reconfigure the mark and wordmark layout — keep the lockup intact
  • Don't rotate or flip the logo — it sits horizontally, antennas up
  • Don't recolour the logo — solid #f6aa12 only
  • Don't display the logo with limited legibility against busy backgrounds
  • Don't add drop shadows, glows, outlines, or other effects to the logo
